Angsty sibling Love
Well, this episode brings an end to the whole Shimizu backstory and even had me a little teary in the end. What I don’t get is why Raikou still tried to kill Raimei in the end … I mean, what the hell for? Or maybe he wanted Raimei to kill him but that’s something I highly doubt. Unlike some other characters [Yoite!], Raikou doesn’t look like he has any desire to die. [Spoilers after the break!]
And about Gau. I was hoping he’d stick around longer because I liked him. It’s as if every character in this anime have some kind of angsty past (which gets me curious about Yukimi because we don’t know crap about him). Now I’m getting the feeling they made Raikou want to kill Raimei just so Gau can appear out of nowhere and take the hit. After all, Raikou’s actions felt sort of out of character at the moment … or maybe I just hate the “It’s already too late” line that much.
Anyways, since they didn’t kill Gau off and kept him in an indefinite coma it means they might bring him up again eventually. But I just can’t think of any other role Gau can play anymore.
Well anyways, I kinda figured that the truth was something like that. The fight scene was longer than usual but they built everything up very while. Raimei’s whole monologue had me all emotional but then I started laughing about how ironic the rain’s timing was. When it rains you know someone’s going to die.
Angst-aside, we got some devilish Miharu this episode. Too bad Kumohira wasn’t around. Raimei’s comment had me think up the strangest thing though. Kumohira being the loving husband and Miharu being the cheating wife [cheating with Yoite, of course] … Speaking of which, the preview shows Miharu and the injury his hand got for stopping Yoite’s Kira technique aswell the both of them seeing each other again. Miharu and Yoite are kind of like a platonic/same-sex Romeo and Juliet or something … this disregarding the fact that the love is slightly one-sided on Miharu’s side.
[It's disturbing how much I wonder why Raikou chose to dye his hair pink]

Don’t worry, Gau’s sticks around and his role is basically to be an ambiguously gay duo with Raikou…
