Tomoyo should be one of the “sad girls in snow” What’s the Kanon doing in my Clannad?
I was looking forward to this but after watching, I’m not sure what I was expecting anymore. In all honestly, I didn’t like it.
Thoughts
Why? Well, it’s maybe the story’s fault but I really didn’t like how being together made Tomoya and Tomoyo seem like completely different people to me. I think I prefer them as the duo who beats Sunohara up. I love hearing You-kyan do those dramatics/angsty scenes but I absolutely dislike emo-Tomoya. I get movie-Clannad flashbacks and I don’t really like it. Emo-Tomoya with You-kyan’s voice is more entertaining than NojiKen’s though. Not that I hate NojiKen. He’s my prince of tear since Nejireta Edge after all. I just I like You-kyan’s Tomoya much more. Then there’s girly/desperate Tomoyo. The blushing and all that is absolutely adorable yes but I didn’t like it. I don’t know how she’s like in the game since I haven’t seen many videos of her path but I like the calmer and more innocent(ish) Tomoyo more (I need to play CLANNAD one of these days).
I loved the metaphore
In terms of character I still prefer Tomoyo more than Nagisa. But I did change my opinion about Tomoyo being a better choice for Tomoya. The two of them are just … average together. They act like their already married and that’s not all that entertaining to watch.
Nagisa’s and Tomoya’s relationship is cute because of the awkwardness between them. Tomoyo blushing is cute, but Tomoya blushing is even cuter.
Really, the whole reason I didn’t enjoy this episode is probably because of the story. I can’t handle all this emo/drama/angst at all because of how damn generic the story was.
Basically, I hated the episode overall but it still had its moments. (I still can’t believe I’m saying this about KyoAni)
Highlights
Loving the bedhead. Tomoya’s tsukomi is as great as ever.
… girlish, desperate Tomoyo?! Cute, yes. Extremely cute. My heart’s about to die from the cuteness but I hate the look on Tomoyo.
Ah, at least someone’s being himself. Sunohara being Sunohara. It’s too bad I didn’t get this joke in particular.
JunJun’s nameless character appears in the background! I wonder if he ever showed up in the background in the actual anime …
Aside Sunohara being Sunohara, JunJun voicing a nameless character was the second most entertaining thing this episode. I ended up laughing for unknown reasons whenever he showed up. I guess Megane-kun is a reasonable name though right?
(I shouted “ABUSEMENT OF AUTHORITY!” when Tomoyo called Tomoya on the intercom)

My new phrase of the week seems to be “INTIMATE MOMENT!” which I scream everything something like this happens. I wonder if I’ll be able to find a You-kyanxJunJun CD anywhere. Clannad got me in the mood.
It’s probably because I re-read the books again but … this scene had me scream “DON’T DO IT EDWARD!” when I know perfectly well that it’s Tomoya there. Damn New Moon flashbacks. Ugh, I really hate how this relationship makes Tomoya feel like crap.

I only got “Cherry Blossoms” out of Houko-san’s Engrish.
Where’s mah blond cutie?! OMAHGAWD.
It’s amazing how just a haircut makes Tomoya look like he’s 20 years old.

It might very well have been their intention to put you on Nagisa’s side. KyoAni loves Key’s main heroines. No other girl gets any love from the male lead except them. At least until now…and they still didn’t let the love be too much (there was apparently supposed to be a bit of kissing in Tomoyo’s arc, but none here).
That aside, you’re right. They act like they’re already a married couple. I was trying to figure out what felt so wrong about their relationship, and that’s it. After all the blushing for Nagisa and Tomoya, it feels like Tomoyo and Tomoya’s comfortable relationship…is just weird. Not the same, and not really as good. I like my blushing.

but nonetheless, this episode really did it for me, even though i’m not a big supporter of tomoyo x tomoya
I couldn’t get into it either. It felt like he was cheating on Nagisa lol.
