CLANNAD ~ After Story ~ 05

This episode has made me so fucking happy. Excuse the hard word but boy did I fangirl this week. Why? Well obviously for the shota addition. Shima is too fucking cute. I found him totally adorable in the game but with an appearance wow … my love has multiplied tenfold.
So this week treated Misae’s arc. I was sort of wondering how it’d differ from the game but it was pretty much the same aside Nagisa’s and Sunohara’s presence in Misae’s room. Well, Sunohara was actually beat up and squashed in a corner by Misae’s divine punishment so it was just Nagisa. As I said in some post, what I love about Misae’s arc is the presence of supernatural elements; something I love from key and something not much in CLANNAD. In this case, Misae’s cat gives Tomoya a vision of the past.
Said past is Misae’s past, during the time she has a student and student council president. At the time, she had a crush on a guy named Igarashi, who, later in the episode, we learn already has a girlfriend. She was about to ask Igarashi to walk home with her when Shima shows up. Ah my cute cute shota! My heart skipped a beat at his sigh. Nothing beats a really cute boy + a big hat and long loose sleeves.
Shima. I’ll admit. I still don’t really understand his story. The translation was a little bit lacking in the game and I got really confused. I think everyone can make a guess about Shima-chan’s relation with the cat and Misae. The easiest thing to guess is “the cat is Shima’s reincarnation” … that much is obvious when first laying eyes on Shima. There’s a few other things you can easily guess but I won’t say much since I don’t really understand it myself.
Wishes are always involved with key aren’t they? Hur. Hopefully we’ll be able to get the whole light and illusionary world thing soon. I don’t understand it very well yet either. I really need to get back to the game.
I like how KyoAni’s making use of Misae’s story to forward Tomoya and Nagisa’s relationship a bit. True enough. The two don’t really act like a couple. They’re much too awkward with each other. It’s really cute and all but we need some progress. Nagisa’s got to get pregnant eventually, ja?
The end of the episode made me gasp … even though I knew this was going to happen anyway. Following your own advice is difficult isn’t it? It’s almost hypocrite really.
I love how you scold, worry … and you smell good
Besides the end, my other favorite part was Tomoya’s line at the beginning of the episode when he was describing Misae. When you first hear it you go ‘huh?’ but after the arc, it gives off that bittersweet feeling. I think you can guess this: Shima’s the one who said that line before Tomoya.
(Well, of course, unlike in the game, Tomoya says it without the romantic feelings .. hur)
I really really miss Dango Daikazoku now. Now that the drama’s kicked in; the ED feels extremely out of place. But okay, that’s not much to be frustrated about. I really can’t wait for next week’s episode to see how they’ll everything up together. I really really loved Misae’s story. Most of it is due to Shima but it’s also because I felt like Misae’s past had a lot of impact; the bittersweet type. Misae and Shima are a cute pairing. Oh sure, it looks odd because it should be a older sister-younger brother type relationship but I think they made a cute couple. Oddly enough. Shima’s cute, innocent and has a straigh-forward personality. He’s honest. But wait, that doesn’t have anything to do with them being a couple right?
Bring on the bittersweet drama!
(EDIT*
I just managed to tie everything in my head and everything about Shima makes sense now. If you think about it, it’s pretty easy to guess his whole story. Shima hints to it himself mid-way actually. Haha, but I shall write no spoilers.)
