The best of CLANNAD happened while everyone was still in school.
I dare you to disagree.
I’ve been meaning to writing about CLANNAD lately but I just couldn’t find the time to. Well, I for one thing, I wasn’t surprised with the anime’s ending. I mean, of course we were going to get our True End. I got a little teary but that was probably because I felt really sad it was really over. CLANNAD was defnitely one of the best rides in anime I’ve ever gotten. Everything considered, CLANNAD was beautiful. But, I still hated that it was over. Thank god for extra episodes! One of the best parts of CLANNAD was the school arc and Tomoya back when he was totally badass.
What I loved about this week’s episode was seeing the Kyou, Tomoya and Sunohara OT3 again. They’re one of my favorite OT3s out there and damn, I love OT3s more than my OTPs. Seeing the super moe Nagisa again was “WOW! FLASHBACK!” to me. “Ultra Mother!” Indeed.

Well wow. Looks like our lovely married couple bumped into each quite a few times before the “Anpan!” incident. That’s a first. And look at Tomoya being all badass and delinquent-like. I loved that Tomoya more than father/husband-Tomoya. Not After Story Tomoya was just the type of Seme I loved. After Story Tomoya was just … well, uke. It’s like he suddenly went from sexy Seme to waifu Uke. Not a bad change but definitely deplorable. Waifu waifu ~
Sunohara. Among the things that made CLANNAD awesome you come on top. Things are just not funny with Sunohara not around. The last stretch of episodes were difficult without him. Really difficult without him. Everything went soap opera and while that was indeend entertaining it wasn’t something I could easily rant about and make posts about. Did I mention I miss delinquent Tomoya?
You want to know why I miss delinquent Tomoya? Because father-Tomoya doesn’t make this face. ASDSFGFHJDS! -insert fangirling- Thank you KyoAni for doing this and reminding what was so great about Tomoya in the first place; the way his character hits all the labels I absolutely adore. With the exception of emo-Tomoya. I dislike emo-Tomoya as much as dislike relish. Ugh, relish.
You want to know my True End? My True End is that Tomoya goes out with Nagisa. Then, Nagisa gets pregnant but dies when giving birth to Ushio. So far so good? Next, Tomoya weeps. Tomoya gets tricked by Furukawa pair and goes on an adventure with Ushio where they become father and daughter again. We’re still okay right? Finally, the two are a happy family but Tomoya eventually reconsiders remarrying for his sake as well as Ushio’s. Who does he find but Kyou of course! Tomoya and Kyou? Yes, yes and yes. (I’m not telling Tomoya to forget Nagisa though)
Of course, this end could only exist in reality not Key where magic and fantasy prevails.
You know what else was awesome about pre-Nagisa/Tomoya mariage? The “I can do cute Nagisa faces montages” part. I count at least five “Cute puppy-face” Nagisa in this episode. And do I see Akiko’s terrible jam there … ? RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
A-ahem! For your losses, I present two montages:
Akio is the MAN!
Worried father gives Daughter advice on how to make friends while a totally alive croissant is trying to bite his finger off. “Listen up daughter of mines! All ya gotta do is …”
“… Go ‘wan wan!’ and people will come run after you. Well, actually they just might glomp you and hug you to your death but, at least, you will have felt loved for a moment. See? Like this! ‘Wan wan!’ Like a little puppy.”
“Oh, I see.”
“On second thought, ‘Ultra Mother!’ is just fine.”
“I SWEAR ON THIS CRAB THAT MY PLAN SHALL WORK! BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!”

Tomoya’s worth fighting fooor ~
“zzzzzzzzzimzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzsozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzsexyzzzzzzzzzzzzz”
“I wonder how it feels like to have his ***** up my …”
“zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzstillsexyzzzzzzzzzz”
“GASP! Is that woman trying to steal my man!?”
“BACK OFF BITCH! THIS ONE’S MINE!”
“Yours?”
-insert inappropriate thoughts-
“That’s exactly it!” (Me: Exactly what?!) “He’s mine so stay away!”
Sunohara: “THE ONLY ONE TOMOYA CAN IRON WITH IS ME!”
-
The End.

See? Even before they officially met, Tomoya was Nagisa’s ray of hope. Awww ~

Final Thoughts
I’m going to miss CLANNAD almost as much as I miss Code Geass. That’s saying something. It really is. I may have been around the anisphere for a while but there are hardly any series that I followed through and through every week with a lot of anticipation. I’m the type who starts watching a series as easily as she drops them. CLANNAD was a series good enough to keep me entertained until the very last second.
Heh.
Next week there’s still the recap epsiode. Maybe I can make more montages.

i agree–i would have loved to see the more realistic kyou and tomoya ending. for me, i think that would have pushed this show over the top making it a great show instead of just a very good show. and i think they could have made better use of the other world, too. it looked like they were building towards that, too, but then did the whole disappointing reset ending.

A strange hopelessness threatened underneath the pleasant thrum of release, but he fought it off. She simply occupied a part of his brain, and now Radin was there as well. He made no secret that he could read any mind he chose, elvenborn or elvenchanged. She recognized that particular position from prior matches and knew it wasnt one easily broken. She was the one to blame. Her gifts were not of the same caliber, as they were divinely enhanced. Suddenly shy, Eyrhaen stared at the crimson and midnight pattern in the rug. But… Abruptly, she caught Eyrhaen up in a hug. To Eyrhaen, they all looked rather comfortable together in the domestic scene. I…didnt realize until recently thats what Id done, but its true. She barely restrained the urge to push up and seal her lips to his. Ive taken enough for tonight. She cant make it easy, can she? But Brevins weight kept her where she was. I love you, she murmured, needing to share the warmth in her heart. she asked, voice hoarse. Thats wonderful, she thought back to Radin. I never thought Id be allowed to raise children when I was with Aletone. She ached for them after a life so long denied. How could I deny such a lovely request?
