Never let the smile fool you
It’s Monday. That means my brain isn’t properly functioning yet. And I just made it worst by racking my mind with something non-BL to write about. So then I decided on the latest episode of Nabari no Ou (episode 08).
I noticed this a while ago, but episode eight had it really jumping out to me. ‘This’ being the fact that there aren’t really any ‘good’ or ‘bad’ guys in Nabari no Ou. Well, I’ll admit this post had me realizing that fact too. Anyways, its been a week since the episode aired so no summary from me.
From beginning to the near end, I was wondering “Where the hell is Aizawa?!”…. and then, when he showed up out of practically NO WHERE and shot Mr. Freezie … I was in O_O mode for the rest of the episode. Despite everything that happened in the episode (Yoite’s breakdown, Miharu putting himself between Oda and Yoite and all else), Aizawa was what struck me the most this episode.
From the start, I always thought Aizawa to be the ‘normal’ character. Not really comic relief or whatever but the ‘ordinary’ person with not much to him. Yeah well, after Oda made a point to say that there was something to him too I realized maybe he was ordinary and bland for a reason. Even so, I was still really surprised to see him finish the job in episode eight. I kinda expected Sensei to come through in the end and finish him off. Looks like Sensei was more naive and innocent than anyone else. It’s always the harmless, ordinary ones who are the dangerous ones after all, eh? Props to Satoshi Hino for actually putting shivers down my spine when he was genjutsu-ing the four-eyed asshole. I’m much more used to his baka inu character -cough- Saito -cough- so it kinda surprised me. Maybe that impression I had of Hino-san contributed to my perception of Aizawa.
Most of everyone’s pasts seem more or less clear in my head at this point. The only characters I’m not really sure about are Yukimi and Aizawa … but obviously, I’m more interested about Aizawa.
(Really, I’m surprised Nabari became a show I’m taking seriously since at first I took this up to poke fun at)
I hope 26 episodes is enough to explore the characters enough and give us a satisfying ending …
