Okay, so summer isn’t over yet sure but since it’s close to ending I figured I might as well do this post now. Just so you know, the Fall 2008 Lineup is moving along smoothly. Most of the information searching is over so after I write down my personal impressions I’ll be ready to post it. Well, I’m also waiting for certain news about certain series. Namely, Skip Beat. Also, not many series have their air dates released either so I’m waiting for that too. I’ll probably have it posted before the end of the month though. I wouldn’t want to have that post in the back of my mind when school starts.–
Summer was an abnormally slow and long season. It was so boring that I had to force myself to watch episodes. Ugh, I’m still quite behind on most of the shows I’m watching. I took the time yesterday to catch-up on as much as I could. And I’m still catching up on anime as I write this post. Call it a total waste of time, but I’m determined to be up to date with everything before Sunday. Haha, I just reminded myself of my lack of an outside life. Great. (I did go outside today for a nice walk, mind you)
Code Geas R2
Shows that I’m still watching are included in my wrap-up/catch-up even though they started airing in Spring. This would be a terribly painful post to write if I just wrote about the summer shows.
Geass is probably the only show I’ve been watching with excitement and anticipation. I stopped blogging it but I’m still watching every episode diligently. Well, not much to say here. The insanity is continuing and things are still lacking in sense. Suzaku and Lulu were seconds close to getting back together when Schneizel’s lover just had to show up and apprehend Lulu. Ugh. Can’t say I wasn’t expecting that but I was still frustrated. At this rate, the chances of Suzaku blowing himself and Tokyo up isn’t very low. As I said, I won’t be forgiving him unless he dies. He really needs to get over Euphie. And Lulu! Lulu should just get a sex change or something. Maybe then will I feel less guilty about the sickness that is his harem. Sunrise really hates their female characters. That or they just don’t believe they’re people. Every female character in Geass has been reduced to being completely useless. It seems they’re just there for the fanservice shots. I mean, look at Kallen! Her breasts keep getting bigger by the episode. Then there’s the loli-queens that haven’t been doing anything but sitting around. C.C’s been reduced to a brainless slave. Milly’s lucky enough to have her episodic cameos on T.V. And lastly, there’s both Cornelia and Villetta who are imprisoned as well. Their breasts will start increasing in no time as well if we make Kallen an example.
So, what exactly am I expecting from Geass now? There’s less than ten episodes left. Well, so far, these spoilers are turning out to be more than just right. If it continues to be right then Lulu’s going to lose the last two females that ever mattered: namely Kallen and Nunnally. Of course, I’m still going for Rolo unleashing his bracon on Nunnally. Lulu’s an idiot for sending him to save wheelchair-girl. It’s like begging for Nunnally’s death. Stupid fool.
I’m still all for the Hamlet ending where everyone dies and Lulu’s left alone laughing over their corpses as the last tiny microscopic fraction of his sanity vanishes.
Nabari no Ou
While Geass just digresses further and further into its stupidity, Nabari just keeps on getting better. Yoite’s dying more and more each episode. The location of Engetsurin is fairly obvious to us already. It’s not helping how they always zoom into Kumohira-sensei’s earring everytime Engetsurin’s mentionned. All is left is for Miharu-tachi to notice how close sensei’s keep the scroll. The whole Kouichi-thing has been resolved and I’m quite disappointed that he ended up being just an immortal. I was expecting a more stable link with Shinrabansho … oh well. Yoite’s attitude about Yukimi in episode 17 had me a little suspicious. Does that mean they didn’t reduce Yukimi to just comic relief? I really want to know more about him now that my questions about Kouichi are gone.
I’m still lacking in theories about Nabari’s ending. Unlike Geass, a lot can happen before the end of Nabari. At this point, it’s obvious either Kairoushuu or Miharu will get Engetsurin. No matter the outcome, Miharu will use Shinrabansho to save Yoite, either keeping alive or erasing his existence. Of course, there’s still the details of Shinranbansho’s disappearance ten years ago. I’m hoping that’ll be revealed around when Engetsurin is found.
(I’m somehow more disturbed about Yoite being taller than Raikou more than anything else)
You know what’s neat? Shimo-chan can do both younger-Tadashi and older-Tadashi. Kei and Hikari haven’t been getting much spotlight but I don’t care as long as I can hear Shimo-chan’s voice. Lately, Special A’s been focusing a lot on the side couples. Kei and Hikari are never going to get their moment are they? Haha. In the beginning, I’ve been rooting for Tadashi and Akira but I’m starting to feel a lot of sympathy for Yahiro. He’s always been treated as the bad guy but he’s just awkward with his feelings. And plus, it doesn’t look like the anime is going to give him the benefit of the doubt either … well, Tadashi and Akira are absolutely adorable together so it’s all good. Oh, and there’s the Sakura and Jun matter too. If the S.A cast existed in real life, I would have probably gone for Jun with the same vigor as Sakura. I absolutely love Jun’s character and his second persona is just a awesome. I don’t know if I like TadashixAkira or JunxSakura more than the other. Both are just so adorable. Kei and Hikari are just … well, whatever. Maybe it’s the anime, but the two aren’t are “awww”-inducing as the other couples. On a last note, it was great hearing Megumi’s voice after 18 episodes … even if it was in her head and just TWO words. Looks like her and Yahiro will be on front page next episode so hopefully we’ll get to hear more.
(Special A Host Club was the LOL … and Yuko Goto’s male voice was … er, well … blah)
The last episode came out like two days ago or something and I refuse to believe it’s the finale. Everything about the episode led to a extremely probably second season. If one isn’t announced to air by next Spring I’ll be more pissed about that than Oofuri not getting another season. Despite my watching Amatsuki as guilty pleasure, it did turn out much better than I had expected. The last(?) episode was just as great. It was perfect build-up for a second season. I mean, first, they kill off Ginshu -sobs- second, they bring Teiten back to the front layer and third, they introduce new characters in the epilogue. Agh! Looks like I’m going to have to read Amatsuki’s manga while waiting. (If I had done the rankings after I watched the episode, Bonten or Tsuyukusa might’ve made it in)
With the lack of subs coming out for this anime, I think I’m going to watch it RAW from now on. I’m glad Monokuro’s staying a guilty pleasure. It’s basically a parody of all that cliches shounen anime have plus homosexual innuendos. Which is the ONLY reason I’m still watching this aside the fact both OnoD and Kamiyan are in it.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
Eh, I’m starting to get pissed at this anime despite the pretty eyes, Hatano Wataru and Haruka’s cuteness. 98% of this anime’s audience are otaku so why are they making it like otaku are the worst type of people? It’s horrible.
I’m enjoying the peaceful and calm atmosphere of this anime. It’s the only anime of the summer that I’m watching without any complaints. I love Nyako-sensei and the episodic slow pace of this anime is really relaxing. I’m normally really pissed at these kind of slow shows but it’s somehow different with Natsume. I wonder if it’s Kamiyan fault …?
… Episode 5 to come?
Service shot. I’m loving Xingko.
