My hints are still too obvious. This Monday’s character is Tsuzuki Asato from the anime Yami no Matsuei, also known as Descendants of Darkness.
Before I start, I feel I should explain why I can’t put Ikuto in the rankings. I thought about what I could do and came up with three options. One, replace someone. If I did, I’d have to replace the third ranked character because that’s where Ikuto should be and the only place he can be if I want to keep it at a different seiyuu for each charater. Oups, I think I just spoiled something right there … -cough- Anyways, I didn’t think doing that would be fair to the rest of the characters so I didn’t do that. The second option was to delay Tsuzuki by a week and make Ikuto a random special or something. But, I can’t do that either for reasons I can’t say yet. It’ll be a surprise until then. The third option was to just talk about Ikuto out of the Top Ten Anime Guys but then I a realized that I didn’t have much to talk about anymore since I made the basic round in my Shugo Chara Catch Up post. End of explanation back to Tsuzuki.
Tsuzuki is the main character of Yami no Matsuei. He’s a shinigami and is known for being a slacker. It’s a rule for shinigami to work in pairs but Tsuzuki never lasts long with any of his partners … but that changes after Hisoka comes along. He has an extreme sweet tooth, loves sake and teasing Hisoka. Despite his normally light-hearted, puppy-like and childish attitude, he keeps a lot of angst inside. When he was alive, he was attacked and discriminated by everyone. It was also made known that he killed a lot of people as well. In one of the arcs, it’s revealed by Muraki that Tsuzuki is not so human. Before his death, he was hospitalized for eight years where he barely lived without eating, drinking or sleeping. Also, he tried committing suicide several times but his body is incapable from dying from wounds. (How the hell he did die, I’m really unsure) Oh, by the way, he’s voiced by Miki Shinnichirou.
I loved this guy way before I watched the anime because of Akane’s site (which I think a friend told me about when I first got into yaoi). After playing Yami no Romance and Love Impact, I was high moe for Tsuzuki despite not knowing much about the character’s backgrounds and such. It was just hard to hate a puppy-like guy like Tsuzuki. But at the time, I preferred Hisoka because he was … uhm … cuter. Yeah, let’s go with that.
After I watched the anime, I couldn’t decided who I preferred between Hisoka and Tsuzuki since I liked them both as a pair. After the final episode it was hard not to think that. In the end, Tsuzuki made the rankings since I liked him more as a character than Hisoka. MurakixHisoka ticks me off, MurakixTsuzuki also ticks me of but it’s more acceptable because of the blushing. Yay blushing.
Tsuzuki was one of harder characters to place in the rankings because I wasn’t sure if I still liked him as much as I did before. For the sake of the post, I watched the anime all over again. 13 episodes later, “Yeah, I still love this guy.” He’s the same type of character as Kantarou. Both of them are the types to hide their worries with a fake face. Only, Kantarou’s better at it than Tsuzuki who’s much weaker and vulnerable despite it all. The reason Tsuzuki won over Kantarou was because of his sweet tooth. Wow, that sounded unreasonable didn’t it?
The main reason Tsuzuki made it on this list was because he was one of first (male) characters I really really liked after really getting into anime. There was Dark (DNAngel) and Athrun (Gundam SEED) but it wasn’t the same.
(The first female character I ever really liked is between Sakura (CCS) and Kagome (Inuyasha) …)
Man, at this point, I’m really not sure what I should say about Tsuzuki since I basically like him for the same reasons I like Tamaki and Kantarou but combined. Hm, I think I’ll leave it at that. Sorry Tsuzuki for not giving you that much spotlight. I’m dead loss for words.
Next week is chicken face. =/
