FEAR ME NOW SHOUTARO!
Oh yeah, Grudge demons release! This is the reason I love Skip Beat! so much. The first episode basically follows the first chapter of the manga in which well Kyoko’s extremely pathetic. If I had never read the manga, I would’ve given up half way on this since the animation isn’t as good as it could. I’m hoping the it’ll get cleaner and nicer along the way though. The animation aside, I’m happy with everything else. The voice acting especially. Inoue Marina’s Kyoko is great. I loved her OHOHOHOHO! at the end of the episode. Sometimes, the animation just doesn’t do her character justice though. Saddening.
I just had to comment about the OP. The OP itself isn’t that good. The song is, well, I’ll probably be addicted to it later but it’s not standing out to me. What I liked especially was Kyoko chasing after the Blue Bird of Happiness.
It’s the hand! I remember when I first read this in Shojo Beat! I thought it was … well, quite different from the usual Shojo. I said higher up that I probably wouldn’t be watching this if I didn’t read the manga. The reason is I thought it was the typical clichèd manga. I also hated Kyoko at the start and I didn’t like the art either. I sort of disliked the whole super pointy chins thing. Was I the only one on Sho-chan’s side? I really liked him actually … back then. Well, I kinda still do like him but I’ll get to him later on.
This scene was supposed to show how worn out Kyoko was … but I honestly thought Kyoko was pretty in this shot.
HAI SHO! Yes, I like him. He’s the biggest asshole on the face of the planet but I still love him. Why? Because he stays an asshole. He’s tsundere with about 0.000001% of dere. Mamo-chan voicing him is absolutely great. I can’t wait for the singing … as long as it’s something different from “Soup” … (which by the way is Setsuna from Gundam 00’s chara song).
I’ll admit I started disliking Sho-chan after a while in the manga but I can’t bring myself to completely hate him. It’s probably because he’s so damn entertaining. And I love how Mamo went from “asshole” “pudding-loving” to “tamaki-vain-like” then to “grudge-mode” … I can’t wait to hear Inoue to do the same for Kyoko.
Sho-chan? Who’s Sho-chan again? Ren’s number for me! He’s so perfect. Too perfect. Way handsome. He’d be even more handsome if the animation improved a bit. His designs aren’t bad, the animation just isn’t very … well, good. It probably looks worst to me since I just watched CLANNAD before this. Luckily, I’m the type who sees through voices in anime. KoniTan’s voice is enough to have me melting at Ren’s feet. Ah Ren ~ I can’t wait for you to get more screentime.
GAH! Sorry for the horrible quality. I’ll download a better RAW next week. Promise.
The end of the episode was what I looking most forward of course. I love it. I really really loved it. At least this did the manga justice. It was so hilariously dramatic.
I’LL HAVE MAH REVONGE!
Yes, that’s a purposely done typo. *See Sunohara. I remember lol’ing so hard at this in the manga. This is when I decided Skip Beat! was going to be a great manga. Anti-Heroines for the win. Inoue’s voice acting was the best ever. Who could do better? You tell me! Inoue is damn great. She’s great at the going from one voice to another like Mamo too.
Should I mention how the animation REALLY isn’t doing the series any justice again? The animation better get … better along the way or I’ll be mad. But that’s nothing to be worried about considering how animation 8/10 times get better as the series goes on.
Basically, I’m happy. I probably would’ve been even happier if I watched this before CLANNAD. I can’t wait for next week. I need my Ren dose … while waiting, I’ll re-listen to a few KoniTan drama CDs.
… Is that Avril I see there?! (I mentionning her because Fuyu already mentionned Harry)
