Warning, this post contains unjustified fangirling.
Junjo Romantica is back! I totally love how I refresh Tokyo Tosho and the RAW suddenly appears ~ I died, resurrected and started fangirling like mad. But anyways …
Before I start my post, I’d like to thank all you lurking Junjo fans who have been giving my past Junjo posts a bunch of views every day. I mean, just today I got 258 views all in all for the Junjo posts! Most posts have gone to Egoist for some odd reason. So yes, thank you very much Junjo Romantica fans even though you don’t comment!
The second season starts out well. Either I’m really really happy and being biased about this episode but it was really good. It was ten times better than it’s debut last season. The animation was smoother and the SFX and BGMs are used more properly. And for some odd odd reason Misaki’s way way way cuter than I remembered him to be. Wasn’t he a little more tsundere than this?
(ROMANTICA) Episode One: What happens once will happen again.
New Opening by Pigstar. Less flowers more stars. The opening animation is much better than it was last season. Then again, anything is better than fluorescent backgrounds and simple animation. The general stayed the same though. A lot of Misaki and Usagi with some Egoist and Terrorist cameos. Unlike the first OP, we get to see the other guys in the OP. Namely Ryuichirou, Haruhiko and Sumi-senpai.
(Honestly speaking, I kinda miss singing along to Kimi=Hana. Kono te hanasanaide! Hanasanaidee~! … It’s also a weird feeling not hearing that chorus play during the next episode trailers anymore)
We pick off right where we left off last season with the beginning of the Haruhiko arc. After the OP, Ryuichiro barges into Usagi’s room and tells him to immediately get ready for a party commemorating Usagi and his new book. All the while ignoring that Usagi’s about to rape Misaki who’s desperately trying to escape Usagi’s grasp which he eventually achieves as Ryuichiro explains that Usagi has to show up at the party. Usagi has no intention of going but Ryuichiro convinces by telling him that Misaki wants to go. Vice-versa, Ryuichiro convinces Misaki of going by making him pity him. The next day, Misaki is heading towards Teito hotel where the party will be taking place the day after. On the way, he stops by the flower shop Nowaki works at to buy flowers. A dozen of roses called “baby romantica” … Remember last season’s ending theme anyone? Misaki then ends up at the train station where he meets a strange guy who doesn’t look like he knows how the train system works. Being the nice guy, Misaki offers to accompany the older man since they are both headed for the same place. Misaki learns in the train that the other man is rich and that he dislikes Usagi’s books. When they arrive at the hotel, Misaki calls Usagi and bumps into him and Ryuichiro as they walk out the elevator. Dramatic moment. Usagi and the unknown man glare at each other. Ryuichiro reveals the man is Usagi’s older brother: Usami Haruhiko. Both Haruhiko and Akihiko get into a heated verbal fight and Misaki eventually gets frustrated enough to start screaming at the Haruhiko for being a stupid fag for insulting Usagi and his books even though he’s never read them. Misaki drags Usagi with him in the elevator and screams “IDIOT!” at Haruhiko before the elevator closes. Haruhiko, surprised, hears from Ryuichiro who Misaki is. Upstairs, Misaki’s still frustrated about Haruhiko and Usagi just laughs it off, amused that Misaki’s so worked up. After a few funny conversations and Usagi treating Misaki like a child, Misaki gives Usagi the flowers which somehow leads to Misaki being assaulted. Smex ensuses. Misaki proclaims once again he’ll one day top Usagi. Skip to the next morning. Usagi explains why the flowers made him happy. Misaki doesn’t really understand but is still happy that Usagi liked the gift.
Whoa, full summaries really do take a toll on me for some odd reason. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again. It’s too much trouble to go through.
Um yeah. Is that hand pose in style now or something? I’m seeing it everywhere, including out of anime. Also, one big thing that bothered me about his episode was the annoying black spots. No seriously. There’s nothing to censor here so why black it out? The lighting get a little weird in some spots as well. And you know I’m running out of things to complain about if I’m complaining about lighting.
Shoujo bubbles ~ kyun!
Ah Misaki. Dear, dear Misaki. The first ever uke I ever loved. The uke that made me fall in love with ukes. The uke that made me fall in love with Sakurai’s voice. It’s beyond me how cute Misaki was this episode. It was insane. I thought I did a lot of clicking in CLANNAD, Junjo’s a completely different story. Nearly a 150 shots for this episode alone. 90% of it was Misaki.
… I’ve gotta resist the urge to write a “Misaki Unit” segment. Something tells me I’ll drift off.
Yeah. I thought the “Nagisa looking up” look was cute. Misaki’s cuter at it. I mean, he’s be doing nothing bu that all episode! Everyone’s just so much taller than him! I’ve saved my favorite Misaki shot for later on in the post though. Sersiously folks, he need a male SaiMoe. Misaki’s scoring a lot of points but he’s still no where near Mihashi’s level of moe. Misaki’s not much past your ordinary cute uke tsundere after all! Still, I’m in full Misaki-love at the moment.
Colored bishie sparkles. Well, that’s new … and slightly disturbing.
Nowaki cameo banzai! He’s still as handsome and .. and … Nowaki as I remembered! Haha. No seriously, we need Nowaki, Hiroki, Misaki and Usagi to meet all at once. They all know each other but the link’s never been made. Misaki knows Hiroki as his teacher and has met Nowaki. Usagi met Nowaki and Hiroki’s his childhood friend. But damn, I demand a big reunion. And I demand Misaki to meet Shinobu. I mean, how can you not imagine how entertaining that would be?
I had absolutely no idea it was ToriKou that was voicing him! Talk about a weird realization. Honestly speaking though, I dislike Haruhiko. He’s … well, there’s nothing special about him. He’s just a character in existence to forward Misaki’s and Usagi’s relationship. Nothing more. Much like Sumi … ‘cept Sumi’s more entertaining than Haruhiko.
Misaki: Gods is this post getting long. Is she going to stop talking about me yet?!
Sorry Misaki. Can’t help it. I’m on crack with Ginseng and can’t stop the BL fangirl in me. Gods did I miss the chibi faces.
Atmosphere of hell
Um yeah. Heated argument between siblings. Oooo scary. I was pretty much not paying attention in the scene. I was mostly anticipating Misaki’s outburst because it’s something I really really enjoyed in the drama CD and manga. It was all like aww, he’s defending Usagi even he’s scared out of his wits! Misaki you cute dog! Stop scoring moe points.
For some odd reason, I love it when my ukes say the word ‘baka’ … that’s another to add my list of weird fetishes.
Cutest UsagixMisaki shot of the episode. No, I won’t bother justifying myself. I’m a biased, insane BL fangirl who likes to squeal. I will let myself squeal so GTFO.
The lighting suddenly changes from red to blue when Usagi pushes Misaki onto the bed. No WTFs from me. Nope, none at all. You want to know a plus? They held off on the text shot this episode! Thank you! And luckily for me, the few text shot they did were things I understood: the “Usagi-san = Roses” text part and the “nandayo” text shot.
You know what I else I miss? I miss how Misaki always adds unnecessary words in this sentences to get his point across. “I’m seriously, really, undoubtedly going to assault you one day!” he said while the tears seaped out of his eyes.
Oh yeah, I died here. Misaki. Blanket. Curled up like a kitten. Oh gods help my heart, I can’t take this anymore.
My favorite shot of the episode. No comment because I can’t comment.
I MISSED THIS TOO! The after ED scenes are always so entertaining. This one was about how Usagi bought Misaki way way way too many suits to choose from and Misaki complaining about it. In the very end, Misaki receives flowers from Haruhiko. Oh yeah, I’m looking forward to next week already since I know what’s coming. Hur.
As usual, the trailers for the upcoming episodes can be found on the official site. Looks like I’m getting my strawberry scenes after all.
