As soon as a video got uploaded on youtube with the audio of the episode, I listened to it. That was Saturday night and I fangirled like mad. Then, Sunday night, I find screenshot and fangirled like mad. And finally today, the episode is uploaded on youtube and I fangirled like MAD. Despite all the little things that pissed me off … that is. Mainly how the episodes are so short. Aa ~ This is really saddening. At least I can cheer myself up with the fact we’re getting Chara CDs.
First Episode in a Nutshell:
- World Conference and Italy’s famous (?) “PASTA!”
- Germany finding a box written tomato on it
Oh my god. This episode was a fantasic and beautiful mess. The World Conference was chaotic. To Aarinfantasy who’s going to sub this, I’m looking forward to seeing how you’re going to sub the world conference mess! The dialog is absolutely everywhere! Well, the comic itself was a chaotic mess which made the animated version entertaining. Plus, after a few listens, the mess actually sounds nice. As I said, it was a fantastic mess. It follows the original to a tee except for a few details. Namely Korea’s un-presence … which I guess has to do with how Korea itself didn’t want Hetalia to air. Greece’s lines are gone but he still showed up. Oh and Austria’s vanished from apparent sight as well.
One thing that completely and totally threw me off with this segment though is JAPAN’S VOICE! Yes, yes. He’s got one line but, everyone who heard the Drama CD should know what I’m about to complain about. Listen here. I love Takahashi Hiroki, Japan’s seiyuu. I loved him even more when I heard him in Japan’s role in the drama CD because he did the role to a tee! Then comes the anime and he just had to use his DEEP VOICE. Obviously, in the drama CD, he used the cuter more moe voice for Japan … so the manliness scared me. I don’t like it at all.
Now, that aside, everyone elses voices owned my soul. KoniTan is still an awesome America. Paku Romi is going to do an awesome Switzerland. Non-tan’s England is still as cute and tsundere as usual. France is still sexy. I missed Yuki Kaida’s voice so I love her China-aru! Russia is STILL cute. Spain’s kansai-ben is going to own me big time. Yasumoto Hiroki is the best Germany possible and, needless to say, Namikawa Daisuke’s Italy is adorable.
Granpa Rome, Germany and the Box:
First of all; OH MY GOD IT’S GRANPA ROME WITH HIS RED CAPE BLOWING IN THE WIND! He has no lines but just standing there being sexy is enough. Ahem. So, I’ve listened to this in the drama CD enough and I’ve read the strip more than enough too. I’m sort of tired of the segment but okay. Too bad they had to cut right before Italy says he’s Tomato Box Fairy and, uh, the rest.
The last segment left much to be desired … for me at least. Let’s start with the good though. Chibitalia is as cute and moe as cute and moe could possibly be. His seiyuu makes a terribly cute Chibitalia. Oh and Grandpa Rome is still sexy.
Now the bad.
I’m sorry. I really really don’t like Holy Roman Empire’s voice. It’s really not what I had been expecting. But maybe, after listening again and again, it’ll grow on me.
The ED owns my soul. I want it in full. Seriously. I need to learn it by heart too.
