Thankfully, the animation finally grew on me and it was way easier to get entertained by this episode than the last. That and I haven’t watched any anime for a while because of Thanksgiving weekend and the fact I bought myself a DS (finally) and couldn’t stop myself from playing all day yesterday.
(And if you care, I’m currently playing “The World ends with You” and “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All)
Ren.
When he shows up, you forget everything.
And all you think about (even for just half a second) is ‘Ren’.
Another reason I enjoyed this episode is definitely definitely Ren! The more he talks the more KoniTan’s voice gets connected to him. I used to think “KoniTan=Soubi” but it’s changing to “KoniTan=Ren” now. The way he goes from “indifferent Ren” to “cold Ren” then “fake Ren” is really cool. In the scene where he was talking to Kyoko about her wanting ‘revenge on Shou’ especially. It came out exactly as I had imagined in my head when I read the manga. Back when I was reading the manga, I loved how Ren, Kyoko and Shou had so many different sides to them. It was fun imagining how they could be voiced and who could voice them in the first place.
Shou reminds me of less innocent and less self-centered version of Tamaki. Of course, this might be mostly due to the fact they’re both voiced by Mamo-chan … or maybe it’s the blond hair?
Okay, so my friend and I were talking about our definitions for Shojo and Shonen and I said: “Shojo’s got sparkles” … but then I remembered that scene in Soul Eater and had to retake myself on that definition. How about: “Shojo features indiscrete violence while Shonen’s got blatan violence”? Or is violence too strong a word for this? I think we need a fixed definition because the Shojo=Girls and Shonen=Guys definition doesn’t feel very accurate anymore.
I really really pity Sawara. I pitied him so much but seeing it in anime just pointed out how really pitiful he was. Kyoko’s scary. Honestly scary. Anyone would’ve panicked if someone like her started stalking you. Then again, considering myself, I think I’d be the stalker in this type of situation.
This is where I wanna say “OH MAI GAWD IT’S R**E*YN” … See, I’m nice enough to censor your name in a fucked way. Don’t worry other folks if you don’t get it. You aren’t supposed to.
My favorite scene of the episode.
Ren and Kyoko are much to entertaining. Everything about Ren spells ‘actor’ now that I think about it. He’s so good at going from one mood to another and drawing in the other person into his pace. It’s almost scary when you realize it.
#1 – Sparkling on the Streets
Kyoko’s awesome moments corner
It was either this or the Ren Unit. I’ll have that unit on sale a little later into the series. SO! Kyoko’s awesome moments it is because she had so many this week.
#2 – Wanting to get into the Entertainement industry with no particulay interest
To those who haven’t read the manga …. I’ll bet you can’t guess what she’ll do later on for the audition. Seriously though, who the hell can?
#3 – Scarring Sawara for life
#4 – ReprimandingScoldingScaring Loli
I found this so awesome in the manga too. There’s just something so womanly GAR about that whole scene.
And of course, the best of them all: Kyoko+Knife+ … wait, what vegetable was that again?
I remember how confused I was in the manga after the chapter ended. It’s like “WTF is she going to do with that?” Haha ~
Other Awesome moments
Kyoko’s imagination
Mostly because of the voices KoniTan and Mamo-chan used. Oh and the rooster. Ah, the rooster.
Kanae
Wow. This the first shot I took and honestly thought “wow pretty” about the character in it. Or perhaps it’s because of how ugly the girls behind her are.
Killer Loli
No comment, it was just awesome.
Lori Sachou!
Did anyone else think GAR GAR GAR?! I refuse to believe I’m the only one. This scene could’ve been epic instead of just GAR though … if they added lights, bubbles and a bunch of other awesome effects. Instead it was bland and … well, ugh. If it weren’t for the ridiculous outfit and the accent I would’ve yawned. The manga had so much more impact! -sobs-

The difference in Hate
I was expecting some text to point that out but there wasn’t any much to my disapointement. This episode could’ve been so much funnier and better. There’s so much potential all they’ve gotta do is take it and make something better. I mean, it’s all there and basically all that’s missing is some impact. IMPACT I SAY! The manga had a lot of it despite being void of voices and sound effects.

YES! More impact! Couldn’t think of how exactly to put into words what feels wrong, but that’s it. When they can’t animate things properly, they should just copy what Nakamura-sensei did or something. Even if it just makes it a still frame, it would be an AWESOME still frame.
But I’d say the first thing they need to remedy is the lack of those fun text jokes from the manga. Some of the jokes I enjoyed most were those little explanations and without them it feels…like something is really missing.
…Ah well. That’s just where I get most of my enjoyment until Ruriko’s little arc anyway. Come on episode 5 (hopefully episode 5 anyway).
I was slightly disappointed at Kyoko’s desperate attempts at the manager since I was really hoping for some revenge tips I could actually pick up and use in real life right now… But seriously, all the guy had to do was call the cops and that would be the end of the story. Gah.
I agree with you and FuyuMaiden.
It LACKED a lot of impact! D:
Especially texts that point things out.
It would have made it funnier that way.
Like the pic/poster of Shou and Ren..
pointing why she has a bigger pic of Shou than Ren when she HATES Shou so much.
If we have watchers of the anime only, then they would probably think it’s weird. D:
Only manga readers would know why, right? D:
Also, YES!
That Lory’s entrance was definitely BLAND. D:
Nothin’ special to it..
They make it seem boring. I agree with you too, that what makes it less boring is because of Lory’s costume and voice. xD
Those people would’ve at least add moar things to it to make it more special since they can’t make the character drawings specially beautiful. -pouts-
I would hope the Japanese would complain about this..ESPECIALLY if they LOVE that manga series. D:
(I myself love it and I’m devoted to it…so if I could, I would’ve told them to make it better just for us fans! D: )
